Working Classroom cultivates the artistic, civic, and academic minds of youth through in-depth arts projects with contemporary artists to amplify historically ignored voices, resist systemic injustices, and imagine a more equitable society.
The Neighborhood Project is a community art initiative by Working Classroom student artists under the instruction of guest artist Adria Malcolm. Las Voces de Barelas, the first installment of The Neighborhood Project, explores the people of the Barelas community, seeking to bridge the gap between otherness & commonality through story & photography. In partnership with Homewise, the public art project mural at 2nd + Hazeldine reflects the community’s history as told by its residents to the artists.
